How this all kicked off

Here's the honest truth, mate: Billy Mate didn't start in some flash boardroom. It started with a shithouse experience, paying too much for gear that broke too soon, from shops that treated ya like a number instead of a mate.

So we built the opposite. Premium glass, grinders and accessories, priced fair, backed by real people, and shipped right across this big brown land from our patch in Minto, NSW. Gear we'd actually use ourselves, nothing we wouldn't put our own name to.

So… why a platypus?

They reckoned I was a hoax.

When the first platypus turned up, the scientists reckoned it was a wind-up, a duck's bill stitched onto a beaver by some larrikin having a laugh. Took 'em years to believe I was real.

Turns out I'm just… one of a kind. Furry, lay eggs, swim like a legend, and there's nothing else on Earth quite like me. Sound familiar? That's Billy Mate all over. Unmistakably Australian. Doing it our own way. Underestimated first, unforgettable after.
